The successful candidate should have experience with computer-based diesel diagnostics, ability to understand and use wiring diagrams, be able to diagnose and service heavy duty air brakes and antilock brake systems, be able to trouble shoot and service computer based automatic transmissions. The mechanic also must be able to perform functions such as: examine vehicles to determine nature of damage/performance, follow manuals and charts in performing mechanical repairs, and be able to troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning vehicles. Skills necessary in this position include use of hydraulic equipment, familiarity with all engine parts, use of micrometers, calipers and thickness gauges, and other necessary skills.
