Backountry Park Ranger - Luray

Full-time, term.  Assists in the planning, organizing, and managing backcountry operations. Develops and maintains park-wide operating procedures and guidelines related to the issuance of backcountry permits and coordinates the training of field staff in those procedures. Works with field staff and program manager to determine the quality and consistency of program implementation and to ensure compliance with established procedures and guidelines. Implements and directs backcountry field tasks to establish the backcountry campsite management program, often requiring extensive hiking and backcountry travel up to 10 hours a day.
