The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field, or a Bachelor’s Degree in a Business-related field with substantial coursework in a human services field. The candidate will be able to demonstrate a combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position, which include individual and group support to transitional housing residents. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a history of skilled professionalism (paid, professional employment) and team attitude instrumental to the effectiveness and efficiency of agency operations. Desired expectations for the position also include (but are not limited to):
• Interest and desire to work with Transitional Housing residents as they strive to build skills designed to increase their ability to live independently within the community. Such skills include, but are not limited to, parenting, debit elimination, budgeting, seeking and accessing employment, securing permanent housing, and time management.
• Ability to perform individual skills assessments and plan, prepare, and facilitate individual and group meetings with residents.
• Communicating in a pleasant, tactful, and courteous manner with all individuals interfacing with the agency (including staff members, clients, community partners, vendors, and the general public). Sensitivity to persons with diverse cultural backgrounds, as well as knowledge of and experience with the local community, is imperative.
• Work style that displays commitment to quality, initiative, anticipation and communication of agency needs, follow-through, acceptance and incorporation of direction and feedback received from fellow staff members, attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and management of multiple priorities within a fast-paced, evolving, and sometimes challenging environment.
• Polished written communication style that demonstrates appropriate use of the English language, including punctuation and grammar. Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
• High level of comfort, significant experience, and proficiency with current technology, including multi-line telephone systems, copiers and other standard office equipment, and computer systems (especially Microsoft Office, the Internet, and Adobe Acrobat).
• Ability to track and document services rendered and compile such statistics into reports as required.
